Caring for your Customized Interior Concrete Floors

Once your CMA Group's concrete floor is acid-stained, we'll apply a concrete sealer to help resist water, stains, and dirt, and abrasives.

Keeping your floor clean will be relatively simple.

• Simply use water and scrub with a soft, non-metallic brush to see if this removes the surface dirt.
• Sometimes it may be necessary to use a mild soap, then water with a stronger soap, then water with a stronger soap plus ammonia.

In most cases, when a sealer has been applied to the concrete surface, the surface may only need a light, general cleaning and to have the sealer reapplied or touched up in high traffic areas.

However, if the concrete has ground in dirt or grime, the substance should be removed prior to installing a sealer. And the surface must be penetrated to do so.

If you've chosen a polished concrete floor, your maintenance requires minimal effort and expense, though some regular care is necessary.

• Occasional dusting to remove grit and damp mopping with a neutral cleaner to enhance the shine.
• CMA can provide help in selecting conditioners for polished concrete that not only clean the surface, but also leave behind a dirt-resistant film. These products can be applied with a mop or auto scrubber and do not require buffing.

We don't mind sharing a tip on cleaning your existing concrete floor in your garage:

In a garage, you may want to place a shallow metal pan under the car to catch dripping oil. Ssand or sawdust can also help to absorb dripping oil. Periodically saturated sand or sawdust should be scraped away and fresh, clean material put in place. TIf oil or grease is spilled on porch or patio cement, apply an absorbent powder such as fuller's earth, cornmeal, or sawdust to absorb as much oil as possible immediately. Leave it on stain for a few hours and sweep up.
